As part of the school curriculum, public high schools are making it compulsory for students ages twelve through seventeen to do volunteer work. Together with assistance from their teachers and parents, students can decide which skills and strengths they want to further develop to make volunteerism a stimulating and enriching experience.

Help bring the residents to and from activities

Château Pierrefonds – Seniors residence located in Pierrefonds

Serve food and snacks for seniors and guests
Help plan the annual Christmas party

CHSLD Manoir de l’Ouest de l’Île – located in Pierrefonds, they provide quality care of elderly residents. Volunteers needed to:
Animate games and activities - all equipment is provided
Friendly visits
Help senior to and from activities

Club des Personnes Handicapées du Lac St Louis - A place where people with disabilities, their relatives and their friends meet, providing them with a sense of belonging, as well as offering social activities and giving respite to families.
Volunteers are welcomed to help out during their Friday night social:

Animate games (bingo, cards)

Ecomuseum – located in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, the Ecomuseum is a private, non-profit educational wildlife park, operated by the St. Lawrence Valley Natural History Society, where you can observe and study indigenous fauna and flora in their natural habitats.
Volunteers are needed to help with the various tasks
Tour Guides (must be over 18 years old)
General helpers (over 16 years old) help with the maintenance of the site
Office help, gift shop, help out with reception
Eco-Quartier Pierrefonds-Roxboro – is an environmental centre that offers services related to four principal mandates: urban ecology, embellishment, cleanliness and the 3RV. They are in need volunteers during their special events

Julia Kraft Celebration Ctr. – this organization located in Pointe Claire provides socialization and recreation for people suffering from physical and mental disabilities. They need volunteers to:
Assist individuals in wheelchairs
Serve food and assist with clean up
Socialize with guests (music, dancing, singing)

Kids Help Phone - Canada ’s only toll-free, national, bilingual, phone and web counseling, referral and information service for children and youth. KHP provides immediate anonymous and confidential support, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Volunteers needed for the Student Ambassador Program:
To raise awareness about Kids Help Phone in schools and communities
To represent, volunteer and speak at local Kids Help Phone events, and participate in important events such as the annual Bell Walk for Kids Help Phone (May 4 th, 2009)
Students attend a training conference to learn about Kids Help Phone and receive training in public speaking, events, leadership and team dynamics.

Manoir Pierrefonds – Seniors residence located in Pierrefonds. A variety of tasks can be performed by student volunteers such as, friendly visiting, playing games (cards, calling Bingo, animating activities), taking residents for walks, playing music and arts & crafts.

Residence Evergreen Place – Improves the quality of life of elderly residents. Youth volunteers are needed for friendly visits and to animate games with seniors

Residence Sainte Anne de Bellevue – needs volunteers to animate activities for its elderly residents

The Quebec branch of the Canadian Cancer society – is looking for volunteers to help with their upcoming fundraising campaign:
The West Island Relay for Life this is an overnight event which will take place on the grounds of Pierrefonds Comprehensive H.S. in Pierrefonds, on June 19 th starting at 7 p.m. and ending the morning of June 20 th. Volunteers are needed starting the morning of the 19 th at 8 a.m. until the next morning around 10 a.m. The responsibilities are varied: site set-up and take down; help with registration; food tent; animation, etc. Students are welcomed.
Vents de l’Ouest – is a senior’s residence located in Ste. Genevieve.
Volunteer needs:
Two volunteers to call Monday Night Bingo ( 7:30- 9:00 p.m.)
Friendly visiting (playing cards, reading, listening to music)

West Island Assistance Fund - Provides immediate assistance to West Island residents who need food or any other urgent type of help as required by their social condition. Volunteers needed to:
Clothing and Furniture Store : Verify and arrange clothing/furniture
Food Bank: Verify and arrange collected food items

WIAIH – Provides services to enhance the lives of people with an intellectual disability
Youth volunteers can help WIAIH during their weekly recreational activities as well as their special events.
